The school has been started with a vision of providing a wholesome, holistic environment for children to grow up in. An environment which respects the child's identity, her language, her culture, her abilities. Where growth is not measured unidimensionally, namely how much tables does one know or how much accent one puts while speaking English.
An environment where equal importance is given to play and study, discipline and freedom, local language and international language, arts and science, fun and competition, emotional maturing and intellectual development. An environment where children do not miss out on the simple joys of life as they grow up, of playing, friendships, of being with nature & spending time outdoors.
Where education is not reduced to a series of buzzwords, Montessori, Reggio Emila, play way, multiple intelligences, Waldorf et. al. ..but rather in being engaged with the child, we are able to work with children using ways that help them learn and internalize in a natural and organic manner. We do not aim to be a school which dishes out 'outcomes' based on the latest 'research' but an extended family where we take a genuine interest in each other.
We believe that education is incomplete if the child is not fluent in its mother tongue, that the child loses out an important dimension of life if it does not pick up the local language. Community participation begins by knowing the language of the community. Knowing these only enhances the brain and helps in other areas of education as well. Benefits of multilingualism have been backed by good research.
We believe education does mean that one gets better at maths & English, but that, really, is only part of the story
